Delta 8 vs. Delta 9

Delta 8 vs Delta 9 – what is the difference and why should you care?

Understanding Delta 8 vs Delta 9

Hardly in my life, I’d have imagined that some form of THC would be legal, well quasi-legal.

Technically, delta 8 is in the so-called grey zone.

Some marketers claim delta 8 to be a legal high, but we’re not there yet.

Delta 8 is purchasable on the internet because of the 2018 farm bill that clearly stated that what is not THC 9th derivative can eventually be left alone in the market, well at least for now.

More I talk about it here.

Damn, that video is restricted, click it! 🙂

So, from now on when you hear Delta 9 you can imagine it as being the illegal street – gang controlled (just kidding) reefer.

You know the war on drugs.

On the other hand, there is Delta 8 that you can purchase even from our website.

The Structural difference between delta 8 vs delta 9

DifferenceTHC, Inex Life
The difference might be just one covalent bond, but is it really that small?

The chemical difference between delta 8 vs. delta 9 is really in one covalent bond.

That of course does not tell us much about the compound itself and its properties and effects on our bodies.

In chemistry, one substance having the same amount of let’s say hydrogens and carbon atoms, but different spatial orientations can have significantly different effects on our bodies.

That’s exactly the case with Delta 8.

Delta THC – 8 is an isomere of Delta THC 9 or the dope.

Isomers are compounds being alike at the molecular level.

They have the same amount of atoms, but they are arranged differently in space.

It turns out that if you choose the right method you can make Delta THC 8 out of THC 9 as this study concludes. (Pubmed)

And one study conducted on rats has shown similar patterns of influencing behavior.

In this study, scientists have observed a significant increase in appetite levels in before food-deprived mice.

Doses, in fact very low of 0.001 mg/kg delta(8)-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) had detectable effects on food consumption, cognitive functions, and neurochemistry. (Pubmed2).

delta 8 vs delta 9

What is THC in case you are a Martian and never heard of it?

THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the chemical responsible for most of marijuana’s psychological effects.

And we can be rigorous about terms like psychoactive vs. intoxicating, but in fact, we’d like to talk about its effects on our bodies.

THC interacts with the endocannabinoid system we all have in our bodies naturally.

It’s the nerve cell signaling system that modulates the central nervous system’s functions and its main purpose is to maintain homeostasis – the balance.

The plant Cannabis Sativa or Indica has more than 104 known cannabinoids, but almost everybody knows it because of the most famous THC because it makes us high.

Nowadays, more and more CBD is making its way into the spotlight as being a non – psychoactive cannabinoid,

THC stimulates cells in the brain to release dopamine, creating euphoria.

It also interferes with how the information is processed in the hippocampus – the part of the brain that is responsible for creating memories.

Large amounts of THC (Delta 9) can induce hallucinations and impair psychomotor processes.

Therefore it is highly not recommended to drive while under influence of THC – that comes for Delta 8 as well!

I wrote many remarks concerning my experience from smoking THC 9 after years which I concluded here if you are interested.

If you heard of THC and CBD then let’s recap the difference

Thc is psychoactive and CBD not.

The term psychoactive should be used cautiously though.

When we hear psychoactive we usually think of changes in the perception of our consciousness.

We suddenly feel and act differently than our “normal selves”. It’s being high.

In a broader term, we understand psychoactive as something simply affecting the mind. It can be affecting our central nervous system and its adjacent biochemistry.

In this definition the statement – “CBD is not psychoactive” is untrue.

CBD influences the mind – its reported anxiolytic effects are proof that CBD has mind-altering qualities.

It works differently in our system than THC though.

We have two main types of receptors in our endocannabinoid system. If you have never heard of the endocannabinoid system, click

THC is activating CB1 and CB2.

CBD is inhibiting them.

It works opposite to THC.

I tend to think that the biggest difference between the two is in the influence on the psychomotor system (for instance movement) and that THC causes euphoria, time dilution, and CBD does not.

delta 8

Does delta 8 make you high?

Yes, sir, have been that, done it!

It is milder though than Delta 9 and some guys might not like it – but for those, I say roll a blunt you got from streets.

For me a 35-year-old, with 2 kids and a hustler, Delta 8 is good as it gets.

I don’t want to lose the touch with this God-given plant and its let’s say hallucinogenic (although it’s a strong word) effects.

At the same time, I can’t lose my focus, my productivity, my consciousness.

I will tell you what I think Delta 8 is great for, and where it does its job, but let’s see some studies first.

What is most interesting in this study is that Delta THC 8 has increased food appetite more significantly than Delta THC 9.

Furthermore, we can read from the studies Delta THC 8 has a slower onset of action but can last more in the system. (Pubmed3)

Now, all of these are rat studies.

We don’t have a lot of human studies though.

I do not think it’s because lack of volunteers, but because that field is rather new.

How to get less high where I think Delta 8 is amazing

When you grow up eventually, you will find out that mild altering consciousness is a way to go.

I don’t have to get stoned all the time, even if it’s just for recreation, during a workday it is simply a no-go.

Mild THC – Delta 8 in that matter, intake gets you deeper into the present moment.

Almost any recreational or creative activity – here is experienced with an increased feeling of presence and dedication.

It helps creative work mostly in its idea-shaping phase.

I think the ideas you have – you can mold to such a detailed level that you would not in your sobriety.

On the other hand, execution gets harder. And it always has to be just a mild level of the substance in your body to help not to spoil the process.

Therefore I think milder Delta 8 can be a helper in creative work, because it’s, well milder than THC 9.

Well, maybe I tend to leave it for ideation – the creative part of my work, when I need execution I want to be sober and rely only on my dopamine modulation through practice

But, delta 8 is amazing and worth experimenting with.

It’s not an interesting verge.

When the scope statement is – let’s take the positive effects and mitigate the negative side effects, I am always in for the experiment.

What else are humans if not creatures, behaving under circumstances of utilitarianism, aren’t we?

Delta 8 side effects next day – for pussies

Delta 8 vs Delta 9 side effects.

As we already spoke THC has some negative issues.

There is a clear evidence of impairing a psychomotoric system (movement). However, this is put back to normal once THC is out of your system.

Mild dosage of THC even 9th derivative should not give us any major side effects.

However, long – term regular, I’d say heavy usage can negatively impair concentration, memory loss, anxiety or nausea,

I had a schizofrenic friend to whom, after years I’d not prescribe to smoke THC 9, because it was not doing him well.

So, since Delta 8 is an isomere, we can expect similar patterns when it comes to side effects.

However, this stuff is like 50 -75% milder.

Therefore, if you really experiment with this responsibly, this will be a very safe journey.

One of the best things how to consume your Delta 8 is through gummies – you can check our gummies review here.

Most of the Delta THC 8 Gummies come of 25 – 30mg per gummy bear.

This might be enough for someone to already feel an effect, but if you need more, then you will have an exact scale what you are getting.

Most of the Delta 8 products come with CBD in it.

And, just to be clear about this – it’s a fact that CBD lowers the high caused by THC – so, what you are getting is like tamed caffeine.

Where is delta 8 available

Last but not least is the question where to get it.

The awesome thing of our age is that you can get it on the internet, not in the ghetto streets.

Delta-8 is currently legal in 31 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and in Washington D.C.

In two other states, delta-8 is regulated the same way as recreational cannabis: Connecticut and Michigan.

Meanwhile, delta-8’s legality is unclear in 3 states: Arizona, California, and Mississippi.

Finally, Delta-8 THC is illegal in 14 states: Alaska, Colorado, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Montana, New York, Nevada, North Dakota, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Utah, and Washington. (source:cbdthinker.com)
